At Lewis Support Services, we pride ourselves on our extensive experience in working with individuals with special needs. Our team is dedicated to providing personalized care and support to each individual, ensuring that their unique abilities and challenges are respected and acknowledged. We believe in fostering a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.

Through our tailored programs and compassionate approach, we strive to create a sense of belonging and empowerment for all individuals with special needs. Our goal is to promote independence, growth, and a fulfilling life for each person we serve. With our expertise and commitment to exceptional care, we aim to inspire and motivate those we support to lead meaningful and joyful lives.

Lewis Support Services retains staff with experience of up to 30 years. We have learned that it requires a competent team to better support the needs of everyone we care for at home and in our community.

Our Purpose

It is the philosophy of Lewis Support Services that individuals with developmental disabilities should be given full access and opportunity to experience, participate and be engaged daily in society to the best of their capabilities. At Lewis Support Services’ sponsored residential group homes, each person is given individualized attention and individual choice is promoted, while support and the opportunity for self-expression are also provided.

  • It is our mission at Lewis Support Services to provide high-quality person-centered services for individuals with developmental disabilities. These services are provided in sponsored residential group home settings twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and encourage the individual’s growth while providing opportunities for the individual to enhance their quality of life through participation and engagement in community residential living and a community-based system of supports.

  • Our continuing vision at Lewis Support Services is to ensure excellence in provision of services, continued support, and caring for individuals (with developmental and/or behavioral challenges) that enable those individuals to live successfully in a community setting of their choice.

  • Lewis Support Services’ goals:

    Provide safe, family-oriented sponsored residential group homes in a healthy environment for all individuals it serves and supports.

    Create and provide diverse opportunities for individuals to become engaged, active contributors to society through their participation in and support of community activities and events.

    Raise awareness of the contributions that the individuals we support make in our communities.

    Increase education to public safety providers regarding the challenges faced by the individuals that we support.

Lewis Support Services is operated with effective person-centered management principles. Appropriate assistance / support training and supervision will be provided to persons seeking help regardless of sex, race, creed, class or religion.

Employment

  • Employee Training

    All staff will be trained in: First Aid/CPR, medication administration procedures, serious incident reporting, behavior supports and intervention, reporting and prevention of abuse/neglect, human rights policies, positive behavioral supports, person centeredness.

    Staff will be responsible for: record keeping documentation, emergency preparedness, infection control and universal precautions including flu epidemics, risk management, safety, policy and procedure updates.

    Additional training will also be conducted specific to the needs of the individual(s) served.

    Training attendance will be documented on a Lewis Support Services’ training documentation sheet, signed by each person attending the training and kept on file in the sponsor/group home. Documentation of attendance and participation and completion of knowledge retention exercises shall be maintained in the personnel record at the Lewis Support Services’ administrative office and accessible for review by DBHDS. The sponsor/ group home residential manager is responsible for ensuring that all staff members in the home receive and complete training.

  • Advanced Training

    Remedial or re-training may also occur in cases where needed as identified by the department, Lewis Support Services’ administration, or the training instructor. Also, in-service training may be conducted in cases as needed to immediately address a particular issue or event related to the care, support, and/or safety of an individual.

    Training shall be conducted by the executive director and/or a person qualified through proper credentials, education, and/or training to instruct employees on the related subjects/ topics. Qualifications of the trainer/instructor shall be up to date and kept on file at Lewis support services’ administrative offices.

    Current employees will be required to demonstrate the satisfactory level of competency (demonstration of knowledge/skills to perform duties) through completion of a written or skill performance evaluation. Failure to demonstrate competency at the minimum level (80% for written test/exam/ S-satisfactory for skill competence) may result in remediation training or separation from employment.
